Edinburgh Festival in Full Swing

Yes ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of year and the world famous Edinburgh festival is upon us!
For those of you who have never had the pleasure of attending, the Edinburgh festival (actually a group of festivals) brings together hundreds of performers and shows throughout the month of August. Many shows are free and the atmosphere across the city is truly awesome, in fact the population of Edinburgh can double during this time.

Scotland Back In Action After Ash Cloud Clears

Scottish airports sprang back into life today as UK airspace restrictions were relaxed. Over the past 6 days Edinburgh hotels have been full up with passengers unable to travel while hotels in Glasgow reported having to turn away many disgruntled travellers. Obviously the hotels closest to Scotland’s major airports saw most footfall but most inner city establishments were grateful for extra business also.

Tourists Come Despite Fuel Costs

Many people in Scotland are reporting a good year so far for the Scottish tourism industry despite the high costs of fuel. Hotel bookings are up on 2007 and many tourists from the European continent have brought vehicles with them.
On a recent visit to Durness in the far north-west of Scotland I was surprised to see so many foreign vehicles, ranging from motorbikes and small cars through to motorhomes and campervans.
