Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh

A massive three-master equipped with a powerful steam turbine, the HMY Britannia was once a state-of-the-art vessel of the British Royal Navy. Primarily functioning as a Royal Yacht, it once carried various members of the British royal family and other dignitaries to numerous locations all over the world. Although the HMY Britannia was designed to be convertible into a hospital ship in war-times, it only sporadically saw alternative use — such as when it in 1986 evacuated over a thousand refugees from the civil war in Aden.
